Children’s Developmental Assessment Services
WHO is this for?
Bethesda's Children’s Developmental Assessment Services (CDAS) are for children under the age of 18 who reside in the Niagara Region for whom a special need or Autism Spectrum Disorder is diagnosed or is suspected.
WHAT is provided?
Bethesda's Children's Developmental Assessment Services (CDAS) is committed to providing person and family-centred, best practice assessments and recommendations. The multi-disciplinary team includes a Developmental Pediatrician, Child Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Psychometrist, Occupational Therapist, and Autism Resource Consultants.
Assessment & Referrals
- Multi-Disciplinary Full Team assessments are conducted in co-ordination with the family and community partners. Referrals must be supported by a physician.
- Psychological assessments and Occupational Therapy assessments may be completed as part of the multi-disciplinary team evaluations. Referrals can also be made to these services for individual assessments.
- Psychological services provide a comprehensive evaluation of cognitive functioning looking at early special needs and specific cognitive deficits, as well as measures of adaptive behaviour, academic achievement, behaviour and social-emotional development.
- Occupational Therapy assessments may assist in understanding motor, perceptual, sensory and visual difficulties. These assessments can provide strategies to foster self-help, play, communication, social and coping skills.
Training and Workshops
- CDAS provides training and education through a variety of workshops and seminars based on the needs expressed by the community.
