Are you passionate about empowering individuals to live their best lives? Bethesda is seeking a dedicated Developmental Support Worker to join our team in Adult Supported Living. You will be part of a team committed to providing quality care and clinical support to children, youth, and adults with special needs within the community.
About the Role: Developmental Support Worker
As a Developmental Support Worker, you will ensure quality client care while meeting the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of Bethesda’s clients to ensure the best quality of life possible.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of Health Care Plans based on client needs.
Participate in the implementation of clients' daily activity schedules.
Foster positive interpersonal relationships with staff, clients, and external agencies.
Administer regular scheduled medications and treatments.
Transport and assist clients to and from community-based programs and appointments.
Ensure individuals receive regular health care and documentation is completed.
Complete daily NucleusLab reports, notes, and data.
Monitor BSP’s, data collection, and evaluations.
Maintain financial records for individuals and household purchases.
Assist clients with activities of daily living such as meal preparation, feeding, lifts, transfers, hygiene, grooming, and toileting.
Assist individuals with a variety of behavioural and social issues, including restraining/de-escalation of agitated or aggressive clients using approved and taught procedures.
Teach new work and social skills when necessary.
Assist clients with fine motor skills (e.g., puzzles, writing, holding objects, etc.).
Communicate with families, outside agencies, and other professionals.
Provide guidance, instruction, and direction to others.
Schedule and/or coordinate the work of others, collaborating with co-workers.
Maintain a clean environment by ensuring completion of housekeeping duties.
Preparation of monthly reports and updates.
Participate in the training of new staff.
Ensure training and annual readings are current.
Comply with Bethesda policies and procedures relating to health and safety.
Responsible for reporting all health and safety concerns immediately.
Follow IPAC guidelines.
All other duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
Minimum Education and Certification:
Secondary School Diploma.
Minimum Knowledge and Experience Required:
Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with individuals with behaviour challenges in the Development Disabilities Sector.
Knowledge and experience with lifts and transfer equipment.
Knowledge of and adherence to behaviour standards, PRN protocols, and Bethesda policies and procedures.
Knowledge and understanding of Behaviour Assessment Plans.
Knowledge, understanding, and implementation of Behaviour Intervention and Health Care Plans and evaluations.
Experience with data collection and analysis.
Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
Demonstrated Skills:
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Valid Driver’s License.
First Aid Training and CPR Certification.
Safety Care certified.
Professional Communication Skills: professionally represents the company through strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Teamwork: excels at working with others and communicating with a team to provide the most effective support to clients.
Problem-Solving: able to navigate challenges and barriers, always looks for potential pitfalls and risks to help mitigate problems ahead of time, and knows when to ask for help.
Proactive: anticipates and solves problems and issues before they are brought to your attention.

English
Fluent in French is an asset.
Sign language is an asset.
Working Environment:
Heavy lifting up to 200 pounds.
Physically fit to perform various activities such as restraining individuals and performing first aid.
