Bethesda offers comprehensive, fee-for-service options designed to support children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or developmental disabilities and their families. Individualized treatment plans are collaboratively developed with individuals and caregivers to promote growth, independence, and improved quality of life.

Our fee-for-service programs allow families to access autism services based on individual needs, with flexible payment options through Ontario Autism Program (OAP) Core Clinical Funding or our fee-for-service program. Facing Your Fears

The Facing Your Fears group is designed for youth ages 10-14 who are experiencing significant anxiety symptoms. Using a modified Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model youth will learn to better understand and manage their anxiety symptoms.

Ages: 10 - 14

Fine Motor Skills

Ages: 7 - 9

This after-school group is designed for children 7-9 years old. It aims to improve/refine fine motor skills essential to daily routines, such as writing, dressing, and using utensils effectively.

Navigate to Success

This program offers personalized coaching in key areas like identifying personal strengths, boosting self-esteem, practicing positive self-talk, and mastering self-advocacy.

Our programs are designed to provide personalized, evidence-based support for children, youth, and families. Individual Services

  • Bethesda’s Multiple Goal ABA offers tailored, ABA-based programming for children and youth with ASD and their families. It includes one-on-one intervention, caregiver training, and supervision by a Registered Behaviour Analyst, with goals personalized through individualized assessment and family collaboration.

  • Occupational Therapy (OT) supports children, youth, and their families by identifying factors affecting daily activities like self-care, play, social communication, and coping. Through assessment and intervention, OT addresses motor skills, sensory responses, and visual-perceptual development, offering strategies to enhance participation and skill-building.

    * Services may be eligible for billing to private insurance providers.

  • Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) work with families who have concerns about their child/youth's communication development. SLPs assess and treat a broad range of speech, language, communication, swallowing, and eating problems.

  • Psychotherapy Services offer assessment and treatment for cognitive, emotional, or behavioral challenges through a therapeutic relationship using verbal and non-verbal communication. Common concerns addressed include anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and interpersonal relationships.

    Psychotherapeutic intervention may integrate various modalities into treatment, such as Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. All modalities are approached through a trauma-informed and cross-cultural lens.

    The controlled act of psychotherapy is provided by a Registered Psychotherapist through the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

    We provide psychotherapy services primarily to children, adolescents and adults who either have a developmental disability with co-occurring mental health concerns or are related to someone with a developmental disability.

    Social Work is a regulated health profession that supports individuals, families, and groups to help improve their social, emotional, and overall sense of well-being.

    Social work intervention may utilize modalities such as Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, and more.

    Social Work intervention is provided by a Registered Social Worker through the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).

    Social Work assessment and intervention will focus on the social and emotional wellbeing of the child or youth using a strengths-based, person-centered approach to understand the root cause of emotions, and provide psycho-education and emotional support to cope with difficult situations, thoughts, or feelings.

Group Services

  • Over 12 weeks, caregivers and clinicians collaborate to create personalized strategies for fostering healthy bedtime routines, reducing bedtime refusal, and improving sleep patterns. Supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst, this program is suitable for all ages and involves one hour per week.

  • Over 12 weeks, caregivers and clinicians work together to develop personalized strategies to try new foods, increase food intake, improve mealtime experiences, and enhance motor skills for eating. Supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst, the program may include consultation with an Occupational Therapist for sensory or motor challenges. Suitable for all ages, sessions are one hour per week.

  • This 12-week evidence-based intervention supports caregivers in teaching essential toileting skills to children with ASD. Goals include desensitization to the washroom, intensive toilet training, bowel movement training, requesting washroom use, hygiene, and public washroom desensitization. The program offers up to 24 direct service hours and is tailored for all ages.

  • Social Skills Group is designed for children aged 11-14 to help develop and enhance their social and executive functioning skills.

  • Navigate to Success helps teens between the ages of 15-17 learn critical skills necessary for independence and empowerment.

  • Fine Motor Group This after-school group is designed for children between 7-9 years old and aims to improve/refine fine motor skills essential to daily routines

Psychological Assessments

Bethesda offers Psychological Assessments to evaluate a child or youth’s cognitive, adaptive, social, emotional, and academic development. The process may include interviews, observation, testing, and consultations with other professionals. These assessments can help determine eligibility for developmental services.

The cost is $2500, with potential coverage through private insurance providers.
