DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT WORKER
ADULT SERVICES
Position Purpose
The Developmental Support Worker will ensure quality client care while meeting the physical, mental and spiritual needs of Bethesda’s clients to ensure the best quality of life possible.
Key Job Responsibilities
Assist in the development of Health Care Plans based on the clients needs. Ensure bathing procedures and guidelines of HCP’s are completed. Complete evaluation reports
Participate in the implementation of the clients daily activity schedules (individual program plans, personal service plans) for individuals in a program.
Fosters positive interpersonal relationships with the staff, clients, visitors, outside agencies, government officials and related professional associations.
Transport and assist clients to and from community based programs, activities, appointments, grocery and personal hygiene shopping, operating the motor vehicle safely and legally.
Monitor BSP’s, data collection, evaluations.
Maintain financial records for individuals and household purchases
Assist clients with activities of daily living such as meal preparation, feeding, lifts, transfers, hygiene, grooming and toileting.
Teach new work and social skills when necessary.
Communicate with families, outside agencies, and other professionals.
Minimum Requirements
Secondary School Diploma
Valid Driver’s License
Fluent in English
Minimum Knowledge and Experience Required
Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with individuals with behaviour challenges in the Development Disabilities Sector.
Knowledge and experience with lifts and transfer equipment.
Knowledge of and adherence to behaviour standards, PRN protocols, and Bethesda policies and procedures.
Knowledge and understanding of Behaviour Assessment Plans.
Knowledge, understanding and implementation of Behaviour Intervention and Health Care Plans and evaluations.
Experience with data collection and analysis.
Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
